Join us for the annual community arts adventure experience on the Smith River this Labor Day Weekend! While we no longer have spots available on Redwood Rides boats, you are welcome to bring your own craft—learn more below!

Breathing Bridges 2025!

An Art Adventure brought to you by DiRT & Glitter

Sunday, August 31
1:30-5 p.m. (see below for full schedule)
On the south fork of the Nii~-li~ (Smith River), with performance starting at 2:30 under 2nd Bridge

Free Community Event!

Thanks to the generous support of the Yurok Tribe's Klamath Promise Neighborhood Initiative, DiRT & Glitter is able to offer this experience free to the community!

While spots on Redwood Rides boats are now full, we invite you to join us by bringing your own craft! You can also take in much of the experience by simply being at the beach under Second Bridge if you are unable to boat with us.

BYOB (Bring your own Boat)? 

Awesome! We encourage you to join us by having your paddle-craft under Second Bridge in time to drive to the Hiouchi Community Fellowship and catch a ride on a free shuttle back to the river from 1:30-1:45 p.m.! (Shuttles will be available to bringing you back to your vehicle between 4:30-5)

Breathing Bridges Schedule

1:15pm: Park at Hiouchi Community Fellowship located at 105 Sunkist Ln, Crescent City, CA 95531 

1:30-1:45pm: Shuttles depart from Hiouchi Community Fellowship lot and head to Forks Boat Ramp parking lot

2pm: The Experience Begins! Enjoy the art installations on your journey down the trail to the river 

2:15pm: Brief river safety talk, put on your PFD, grab a paddle and get situated in your boat

2:30pm: The Performance starts underneath Second Bridge 

Paddle on, enjoy your journey up and down a beautiful river canyon and series of riverside performances

4:00pm: The Performance ends underneath Second Bridge

CeLEbRaTe~ Enjoy some community and refreshments on the beach until 5 p.m.

4:30-5:00pm: Shuttles depart from Forks Boat Ramp parking lot to return you to your cars

Come prepared to enjoy an afternoon on the river!

Bring layers, a water bottle, a hat, reef safe sunscreen, a swimsuit and a towel if you fancy a swim, some cash to tip your guides, donate to DiRT & Glitter and/or buy a refreshment at the end of the show!
